ADBoS are recognised by sportscotland and the SQA as Scotland’s only angling association which is responsible for the delivery, standardisation and certification of the United Kingdom Coaching Certificate (UKCC).

In Scotland ADBoS have responsibility for the delivery of the Level 1 and Level 2 UKCC qualification with the Level 3 award being delivered by invite only and in partnership with the Angling Trust (England)

ADBoS are funded by sportscotland to offer candidates at both levels a bursary towards the cost of their qualification.

UKCC L1 (Support Coach)

The UKCC L1 qualification is ideal for a coach who is looking to assist more experienced coaches in the angling environment. The programme is delivered across an intense weekend of delivery, assessment and micro-coaching practices. The final assessment is delivered independently and in the coaching environment of the candidate. This observed assessment will be some time after the initial weekend and may be attached to a Club Angling ADBoS activity.

The cost for the Level 1 qualification is £186.00 in total with candidates paying £93.00 with a sportscotland bursary from ADBoS of £93.00. In any given year we aim to certificate 20 new Level 1 UKCC Angling Coaches.

UKCC L2 (Angling Coach)

The UKCC L2 qualification is ideal for the independent, experienced angling coach who has a history of unassisted coaching activity. This programme is delivered across three full weekends of activity and micro coaching sessions and includes two CPD certificated opportunities such as First Aid and Child Protection. Candidates will be expected to hold a current UKCC L1 qualification or relevant experiences of independent coaching practice. 

The cost of the Level 2 qualification is £265.17 in total with candidates paying £132.59 with a sportscotland bursary from ADBoS of £132.59. On completion of the award the successful coach will be expected to assist at a local ADBoS Club Angling activity or indeed to deliver their own Club Angling programme. In any given year we aim to certificate 20 new Level 2 UKCC Angling Coaches.
